Website optimisation

Understand your website's running costs.

We review the services that keep your website online and the work required to maintain it. You receive an inventory of the costs we can establish and a ranked plan for improving performance or reducing unnecessary spending.

Bring the website's bills and dependencies together

Hosting may sit on one invoice, plugin renewals on another and maintenance in a separate agreement. Looking at them together helps explain what the website costs and which changes would affect the people using it.

We record what each service does, who owns it and what depends on it. Recommendations account for implementation effort and operational risk as well as the expected saving. For software and hosting used across the business, see the infrastructure and tooling review.

The website services we review

  • Hosting and CDN

Compare the selected tier with traffic, resource use and the delivery requirements.

  • CMS, licences and plugins

Record each component's purpose, renewal terms and dependencies.

  • Databases and search

Assess the capacity and maintenance required by the site's data and search functions.

  • Analytics and scripts

Check what loads on the page and which reports the team uses.

  • Forms, email and subscriptions

Trace the services used to collect enquiries and send notifications.

  • Deployment and maintenance

Review how changes reach production and the time spent keeping the site operational.

What you get

A fixed-fee review and a written plan you can hand to another supplier. There is no obligation to commission the implementation from us.

Our Wordfence performance test illustrates why we measure a component on its hosting stack before judging its cost. The results describe our test server, rather than every installation.

  • Dependency and cost inventory

The services we can identify, their purpose, ownership, renewal period and available cost.

  • Ranked recommendations

Each proposed change includes its expected effect, implementation effort, dependencies and principal risk.

  • A keep list

Services that are appropriately sized or costly to replace are recorded alongside the items worth changing.

How the review works

What do you need from us?

The URL, recent invoices or subscription exports, and access to the systems being reviewed. We begin with what is available and identify missing ownership or cost data explicitly.

Is this a performance audit?

Performance is included, but the scope is wider: operating cost, dependencies, deployment, maintenance, analytics, forms and other connected services.

Do we have to rebuild?

No. Recommendations are ranked individually. A hosting change, extension removal or deployment repair may solve the problem without replacing the site.

Can another supplier implement the plan?

Yes. The output is written to stand on its own, including the inventory, priorities and constraints discovered during the review.

Request a website cost review.

Send the URL and tell us which costs or performance problems you want to investigate. Invoices and access requirements can follow once the scope is agreed.
